SEMA 2018 – Part 4

This is the last post from the SEMA 2018 show in Las Vegas. Again a mixture of cars and in no particular order, apart from a batch of Mustangs first of course.

Moving back inside to another hall;

SEMA wouldn’t be SEMA without the beautiful ‘Eleanor’

Adam was interested in this stand and spent a little time looking around.

Bonus Pictures

These pics were taken over the few days of the SEMA show when it was time to relax.

Something a bit fishy goin’ on here we think.

Adam managed to catch up with an ancestor of Yogi’s from Canada while he was out there.

Adam came up with an idea from this jar, Lynn replied with ‘anymore talk like that he would be taking a ride in one of these!’ 😀

She didn’t say that really, she just did that ‘woman thing’ with the eyes that say it all.

Adam has decided that he needs an office down the back of the yard and this was just the thing, He also decided that new office work attire would be in keeping as well. Adam tries his camouflage technique in case somebody wants him while he is working on the cars. He also said something about ‘going tactical’.

We hope you enjoyed the pictures from SEMA 2018 in Las Vegas as much as we did. Thanks to Adam & Lynn for taking the time out to send them to us at stupid o’clock in the morning, just sayin’!

Before anybody asks – Adam will not be back in the office until the 19th November as they are taking a well-earned break while they are in the USA. Adam will still have his emails of course, but will be limited availability.

SEMA 2018 – Part 3

The last couple of posts about the SEMA 2018 show have been very popular and we are pleased with the number of times the pictures have been viewed. So we’ll jump straight back into the photo’s and hope you will enjoy the next couple of posts too.

We have a few pictures of these promotional ladies who are always so obliging to smile for any camera that is pointed their way.

A very popular section was this Hot Wheels display of cars made to look like the miniature versions, the amount of work involved is just amazing.

A few More Mustangs;

As promised the videos, the first here is a Mustang having a blast around the SEMA outside track.

This video is again a single Mustang having a blast, but it’s Adam’s comment that makes us laugh. Obviously said in jest and it’s not true, honestly.

The final video is a pair of Mustangs do a few synchronised drifting moves a few feet apart which is quite impressive.

Let us know what you think. 🙂

SEMA 2018 – Part 1

Adam and his wife Lynn had arrived at Las Vegas safely and were looking forward to the SEMA show. As promised we have been sent the first batch of photo’s, but we are obviously going to be a day behind due to the time delay. As there are a lot of photos, we will start outside and work our way in, apart from the first pic here, which is Adam at his favourite car show, followed by Lynn posing with a couple of big trucks.

A glorious day as most days are in Las Vegas which didn’t disappoint the crowds starting to turn up to the show.

And of course the batch of Mustangs outside;

Perhaps the most important car there at SEMA? The original Bullitt ‘Hero’ car that the legend Steve McQueen actually drove in the film, which was recently discovered and now doing the car show circuit.

The other equally as famous Mustang is Ken Blocks ‘Hoonigan RTR v2’

Inside the great halls;

It wasn’t long before the ‘celebs’ wanted to have their selfies taken with Adam and Lynn!

Adam’s routine each year is to go straight to the Ford stand. He can catch up with some old friends and catch up on the latest news and insider info.

A car that was getting a lot of attention was the drag strip ready ‘Cobra Jet 50th Anniversary Edition’ with only 68 being made. The car has at ‘least’ 700bhp, but rumoured to be closer to the 1,000bhp mark – with a 1/4 mile at around 8 seconds. All this could be yours for $130,000 + extra for badges and graphics! Tha’s IF you can get hold of one in the first place. We think for that type of performance, that is not a lot of money for that car! Especially if you think how much people pay for their custom drag strip cars to try and go that quick. Best of all, this is a Ford (rather special) out the box car, built just for the straight line blast!

It’s also rumoured that Adam had all his beer free for the day as well! Knowing Adam – it’s true. 🙂

Cheers!

We will bring you the next installment tomorrow in ‘Part 2’

Last Call For A Flight To Vegas

Things have been a little busy this week with Adam making preparations for his annual ‘Business’ trip to SEMA 2108 and has been out of the office a fair bit. Although we give Adam plenty of grief over his ‘Business’ trip, it’s a good chance for him to meet up with business partners and make some new ones, not forgeting his friends out there in Shelby and Scott Drake too. This is also a time to catch up with the new developments for the world of restoration and innovations for the LAR / SMR recovery businesses too. Can we just reiterate again that you don’t need to call us for making a parts order, the WebShop is up to date with the stock lists and is real-time updated. If the WebShop says it’s in stock – then it’s in stock. We mention this yet again as we have had a few emails saying that they are frustrated that we can’t provide support for fitting parts while they want to order them over the phone.

Customer Cars

Yogi has been busy with the secret project that we can’t say too much about just yet, but we will bring you the full story of this build once it has moved on a bit. The rest of the week Yogi has been working on the Hertz clone and getting that ready for customer pick up. The dash pad has now been swapped out with our top quality branded stock. The instrument cluster has now been refitted and complete.

With the pad in place we can add that all important Shelby rev counter.

The doors have had new damp papers added, insides windows greased, and new handle gaskets and the door cards fitted.

The gear shifter was looking a little worse for wear so we fitted a new leather boot to smarten things up there again. The glove box card was also not much use either and received a replacement with the hazard switch installed in its correct position.

Moving to the back of the car Yogi has finished the hand riveted inner trims for the back windows and have now been installed, water proofed and the outside trims added. The rest of the lower trims have been refitted so it all matches and looks stock.

Under the hood has also seen a fair amount of work being completed as well, and we hope that you can’t see it to be honest. If you can’t see what has been changed then it’s a job well done yet again. This time we are going to tell you what we done; the hood hinges had become bent and can cause issues with the gap alignment and opening the hood. We replaced them, and as with all these jobs it take a while to re-gap the hood to the cowl and then to the fenders properly. This invariably means an adjustment of the closure and latches.

A Yogi speciality is his signature brake line work that were replaced along with the obligatory brake bleeding, and brake adjustments that all comes as part of the process.

The car needs a final road test and recheck the levels. Once that’s all done then she should be ready for the owner to collect. 😀

As you read this Adam is at the airport ready to go. He will have limited access to emails while over in the States, but he will endeavour to get back to you if you email him.

We have asked Adam to take some photos for us and you our readers. If you click on the logo above then you will be taken to the SEMA website to see what is going on.

Enjoy the trip Adam and have a safe journey.

A Friend Catches Up…

We feel it’s time to reveal what the special post was going to be all about that we talked about when Adam came back from his SEMA trip this year. Of course it was always going to be car related as you would expect. Last year Adam made arrangements to meet up with his friend Cleo Shelby. This year he has gone one better…

While out in Las Vegas Adam made the phone calls and arranged to meet up with his friend Cleo, this time he introduced his wife Lynn to Cleo who hit it off straight away.

The usual catch up chats were had and as time passed a rare opportunity was offered to Adam & Lynn; lunch at Cleo’s house the next day in Las Vegas! Obviously that is an offer you just can’t refuse. For privacy issues we delayed this post and made sure all was OK with Cleo before we posted.

All photos are exclusive to Adam/Mustang Maniac and the first time on the internet.

We won’t show pictures of the outside of her home except to say it’s pretty special as you would expect. Adam and Lynn arrived on time and was let in through the gated premises and was met by Cleo at the front door. They were given a cup of tea to start with which was shortly followed a guided tour around her home. Adam was in his element looking at Carroll’s possessions and his car related items. Adam did take some photo’s of those, but again we will respect Cleo’s privacy, but we will show you this little item, yep the back of Cobra that is now a seat!

Cleo was happy to chat away to Lynn and Adam for quite a while in one of the reception rooms where Adam took this pic.

Not to disappoint, Cleo kept her promise to show Adam her one of a kind Mustang. Carroll had this car made especially for Cleo which is unique as this car has no limited edition number, but is signed by her husband. Cleo removed the dust cover to reveal a special bespoke Mustang, just one of one!

Cleo behind the wheel of her much-loved car.

When it was time to leave Adam was given a parting gift from Cleo – a couple of drinks from Carroll’s very own collection! a bottle of Carroll Shelby Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 and a bottle of Snake Bite Lager.

The 2007 wine is a rare vintage and very much a collector’s item now. The question you have to ask yourself here is; did he or didn’t he open it? Cheers. 🙂

As part of Adam’s birthday, he was bought this rather cool wine holder, what a fitting way to hold the bottle of wine.

We hope the wait for this post was worth it. Next week we will be back to the cars again.

That Midas Touch

This week we have been getting to grips with a major project to reassemble a gold coloured convertible. With most of these big projects it was started and left incomplete for a various reasons, then she was transported to the home of the Mustang, here at Mustang Maniac to finish it off. The web is full of some great how to projects, but more often than not they tend to leave out the problems you will encounter in one way or another. As a result the projects stalls and can be difficult to complete without the experienced know how or the correct tools. Then we get the inevitable phone call where we are asked help out with the now legendary build quality only we can provide to your project. We suspect that this will be the last big project rebuild for a little while until we have completed some of our own in-house projects that we must complete over the winter months to come.

The engine is the in-line six with one of our very own carbs fitted and she runs fine in her current condition, apart from some tuning that will be required.

The only downside is that with Yogi’s Midas touch to make things work and fit again, you can’t see it was already gold – or was it? 🙂

Gold Coupe:

Not only do we have a gold convertible in, but we also get in a gold coupe at the same time in the same workshop. This car needs a little fettling to sort out some running issues and the geberous helping of  the good ol’ Mustang Maniac TLC.

Under the hood – the bling factor matches the paint job!

Promotional Offer:

We have had our delivery of the Limited Edition of the Mustang Maniac 2018 Calendar. These are a month view with day spaces to write down your important car show events.  Thanks to Lance at Linards for the hard work to get this ready for us by the end of the year. We are going to be giving them away to the first 50 orders over £200 + Vat placed with us. We don’t expect these to be around for long, so if you are thinking of ordering some parts and / or vouchers do it sooner rather than later to grab your calendar. We have some pics of the calendar for you, but once they are gone – there will be no more for this year.

IF you ask nicely, Adam may even autograph one for you, Yogi may stamp his paw print for his elite, “Fan Club” and not forgetting Morgan’s signature that would complete the set.

Vouchers:

Adam also says, as it’s getting near Christmas, we have had some more vouchers in to cater for that “What do I get a man with a Mustang?” The answer is Simple – Let them choose! If you ask Adam nicely he may even let you have a calendar with the Vouchers.

You can them from the WebShop here, or cut and past the link below to your browser:

£10 –  https://mustangmaniac.co.uk/part/74/8051/__10_gift_voucher

£20 – https://mustangmaniac.co.uk/part/74/8052/__20_gift_voucher

Other News:

While Adam was “working hard” at the SEMA show he decided to do the touristy type thing and boarded the High Roller, which is a 550-foot tall, Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas Strip. There are four cabins designated as the High Roller “Happy Hour” that have a bar and a bartender. Once inside, the free drinks start as soon as the doors close. Yes, you can drink all-you-can for the duration of the ride, which takes around thirty minutes. A savvy and quick drinker can get five drinks in during the thirty minute ride. We can neither confirm nor deny that the drinks estimation was consumed. The “last call” for drinks is when you are about three quarters of the way round. By that point it’s a case of “is the wheel moving” or is it you staggering around?

Have you ever wondered what Las Vegas looks like from the air in the middle of a desert?

Exclusive:

We have had the go ahead for special world exclusive that we will bring you soon, possibly a dedicated post in it’s own right.

Here’s a clue:

SEMA 2017

SEMA 2017 in Las Vegas was another huge success as you would expect for everybody concerned with the show and those who visited. Adam tells us the blue skies and warm weather was a bit much sometimes, as a result he had to drink copious amounts of beer to cool down. The show was really positive and a few more deals were made by Adam and we will be bringing you the results of those negotiations very soon. As this was a smaller trip this time to Vegas, we asked Adam to take pictures of things that interested him; needless to say most of the photo’s are of Mustangs.

We start with the 2018 Concept Mustang, which we suspect will be a big hit with styling like this.

Other Mustangs:

On Ford’s stand there was Ken Block’s now famous 1200bhp Hoonigan which was not roped of this time, so you could get up close to it.

Celebrity Corner

There was a number of famous faces there and a lot of them wanted to have their picture taken with Adam so he agreed.

David Freiburger from “Road Kill”

Mike Finnegan from “Road Kill”

The Mustang behind the guys here is the eBay Motors “Child Diabetes” Charity car which cost £300,000 to build and was sold to one lucky bidder for £55,000 – now that is a bargain by anybody’s standards!

Ford’s Drift Racer Vaughn Gittin Jr

Adam said he enjoyed the chat with this guy.

We have a another WORLD first which we will be posting soon and deserves a post all of its own. Watch this space, and we promise that you wont have seen these pictures on the net before and are exclusive to Mustang Maniac!

Other Cars:

Adam did take photos of other cars that were not Mustangs, so here is all of those pics!

During the show there are always some beautiful promotional girls at this event, so as our very own Chris was working during the show, he was heard to say “Honestly it’s a difficult job of taking their photos, but somebody has to do it!”

As Adam has taken his wife Lynn out to Las Vegas with him this year there was a shopping spree to be had (and promised by Adam), once the SEMA show had finished. The two shopping trips were definitely a His & Hers experience.

Lynn’s shopping trip:

Adam’s shopping trip:

Who would have guessed it was Mustangs? 😉

Last year the “Mustang Maniac Massive” were on tour and promptly found a favourite restaurant, and Adam just had to pop in to say hello and take in a beer or two:

Other News:

Just before Adam went to Vegas he had a birthday bash at Sheesh in Chigwell (click here for the link) which is an amazing place and a big “Thank You” to Colin the owner of Sheesh for his generosity of the evening.

Also Thanks to everybody who turned up and made it an enjoyable night.

As we said above, there is an exclusive to be had soon so watch this space!
