Customer 302ci bored to 308ci

Customers engine that had a recent failure. The timing chain had broken and failed to start, a lucky escape in many ways. But this 302 is a little different, it has been bored out to a 308, just a little over the 5 litre mark. When we discussed the issues with the client he originally  wanted it back to how it was, then he had a slight change of mind – more power! We now have a full set of white aluminium coated long headers, aluminium heads, bearing valve lifters in place, a full strip down and rebuild of the pistons, crank, fuel pump etc. This was gonna put like a kitten and bark like a dog.

First the engine was stripped down, pistons had new rings fitted and the bores cleaned up. Once the engine was built, the headers we aligned up ready for final fixing.

The HT leads were added and the headers tightened up and the engine was set to TDC and distributor aligned to markings

Essential electricals were wired up (including the Petronix electronic ignition)

The engine was taken from the stand and transferred to the test trolley.

Next plate was fitted back on at the rear, and the plumbing at the front on the block

Flywheel being fitted

Hoses and front block plumbing completed

Bell housing and starter in place

Evans Waterless Coolant added (we seriously recommend this product), Oil level was double checked.
