Here at Mustang Maniac we have many partnerships and some of them make bespoke products for us like our SPAX shock absorbers, we’re pleased to have another USA supplier make our own Mustang Maniac spec products, this time for the early Falcons.
On our Ranchero we hand made a rear set of LEDs, we hade a few people asking for a set of them. We decided to commission a customer focused easy fit version. The brief was to make an LED board for the round Falcons tail lights. We wanted to keep the stock look with modern twist. In the UK cars registered before 1st September 1965 can still have them, a number of our Falcons and some customers want to keep that originality. The all red as shown here with drive, additional brake red, and indicator red, we also specified that these indicators are to be sequential, centre out and adjustable. After 1965 in the UK we’re obliged to show ambers to indicate. The first Falcon amber prototypes they weren’t quite the right colour, they need to be right. We went through the same pain with the early Mustang boards with a number of versions before we were happy. These amber showing lights causes many problems as a standard amber LED won’t actually look amber once shone through a red lens, to make it look visually correct the LEDs need to have a significant colour shift to make them appear amber. We recorded a video of the red boards (below) and will also be on our YouTube channel soon. The best part about the boards? They’re plug & play, the connection is the standard bulb fitting. They will be going on our WebShop very soon.

At the front we are stocking a nice headlight bulb with a different look. They’re not to everybody’s taste, but in this instance with the full fronted chrome of the ’65 Falcons the tribar details suit it. The original style bulb on the right Adam is holding, and the new look style with the tribar detail we stock here.

These lenses have separate side light bulbs, the main beam and full beam are standard fit H4 bulbs, or upgrade to our stock fitting LED bulbs which we stock here.

With the LEDs on the front of the car it retains the stock look as well as being able to see where you’re going and be seen.

Our ’65 looks pretty cool under the hood too.
Ranchero
Our Ranchero is continuing with the engine upgrades with a variation on the rocker covers. We are going for a subtle gold look, not in your face polished gold, but a complimentary warm gold to the red body. With our Holley sniper fitted this starts on the button and runs so smooth.

The Next Project:
The next project is coming up, here’s a little teaser…
A barn find? Nope, Adam knows exactly where this one is and thought it would be good to show a later model project rather than the early restorations we share.
Stay Safe & Take Care!
