Seasonal Spirit

We are starting to slow things down a little on the run up to Christmas as we don’t want any of the smaller jobs hanging around. Yogi has been busy working on a private project on the panel shop, it’s a Ford, but not a Mustang. This rather large project has taken up all of his time this week. This week we have had a complaint – not a compliment of the season. We’re not sure if this was a genuine complaint or the bloke just wanted his money back to be honest, more on that a little later.

Customer Cars

We have had a car brought to us just to put back together again. We won’t be doing any of the mechanical work or touching the body work. This particular job was taken in on the understanding that it will only be used a filler job, which the customer agreed. The headliner has gone in and just needs stretching for the creases, hence we have left the material to settle over this weekend

The Sound proofing and the carpeting have gone in.

Complaint: (Really?)

A customer order from us a set of spark plugs from our Webshop with the link here. The ‘new’ customer ordered the Autolite 45’s and we shipped no problem. Shortly after delivery we got an email to say that we had misrepresented the item and he wanted his money back. We asked what the problem was and he told us they were silver not black. Slightly bemused we offered the refund and shipping. It turns out that on the WebShop the generic picture of the spark plug we use is a black threaded example. The item we have in stock are steel.

What he was after was this style (different sized plug shown just for style).

The fact is that once these are in the block and the plug leads are on you will just about see the top of the tightener flats, if you’re lucky. So now we have changed the website to show the new colour. We can sort of see what he is saying (only just), but the part is essentially well out of the way under the hood, not seen by anybody unless you open the hood of course, even then they will be difficult to see. It’s not as though they are on show like a dash pad or a door card.

We suspect that the customer was maybe going for a particular look (all be it hidden), but we bet he wouldn’t want to get his wallet out to by the real deal. Some more of our stock of NOS original spark plugs that Adam keeps, just for the Concours connoisseurs of Mustang parts. Most of our NOS item are not listed on the WebShop because people will just moan at the cost of the (rare) parts. The people who want these parts tend not to ask how much they are, they know Adam has them and they just want them fitted.

We have no idea why the style(s) has or do change, but as that (former) customer made such a meal out of it – we will not be supplying him with any further products. Sometimes its just not worth the potential aggravation for the £18 sale. To prove the point Adam was checking a delivery into stock he noticed the packaging had changed for exactly the same product. Again no reason for the changes, we’re not told of the changes, we just get the deliveries. These two oil filters are exactly the same but two different batch numbers. If you ordered two and the boxes were different would you complain considering the boxes go in the bin anyway?

We now have a few oil filters in stock though;

There was also a return of some body panels as it was dented which was nothing to do with our packaging it was the courier mishandling. We don’t want to over package and waste materials which is bad for the environment. But on the odd occasion we also get shipping damaged which has been sent over to us. Nothing to do with the suppliers, this is purely the freight company.

We try our best that’s all we can say.

WebShop

We got a new product in which is a variation of an old theme. This standard sized fuel tank has a built in quiet fuel pump and a sender all in one. It looks stock from the trunk and only a slightly wider cable if wrapped with our OEM tape.

Next week could well be our last post until the new year regarding our little ol’ blog, we that’s the IT and Social Media team get a break too. 🙂

Great blog as usual – I think I might be able to shed some light on the reason makers have black plugs rather than the treated ones…..the cost to produce a black finished component is less than an anodised or coated part….simples! Not sure what part of the words used by MM on every parts screen “that they picture is for illustration only and the part may differ etc” are difficult to understand. Anyway, I would like to wish the boys and girls of Mustang Maniac a very happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2020. Thanks for all you have done for me over the years.

  2. I can’t believe the sad muppets who moaned about colour of the plugs. You wont see them. He needs to get a life. 🤣🤣

  3. If the plugs came broken, or, for some reason just didn’t fit, I could see a return. Color? That is a bit excessive.
Love your blog, wish I owned a Mustang just so I could order some of the stuff Adam has.
